Potty Training is a Challenge

Potty training your kids can be intimidating and frustrating but it need not be that way. I have now learned that incentive goes a ways in helping your youngster get trained. You need to understand that your child wants to have adequate inducement for making this change in their life. Consider it for an instant : all he has ever known from his earliest memory is nappies.

Now you are asking him to do something else, something uncomfortable and something that may appear a bit stupid. You also have to remember that up to this point, bladder and bowel movements have been involuntary for your kid. He might not be conscious of the indisputable fact that he will be able to control these functions. For his entire life, it’s been like breathing- it just occurs. Now that he is learning he’ll -and should- control such functions, it is your job to coach and incentivize him to do so in a healthy, hygienic demeanour.

This is the reason why potty coaching incentive is such a crucial tool. Here are many ways you can create potty coaching inducement for your youngster. Permit role play with a doll or favourite stuffed animal. Give stickers or tiny prizes for potty coaching successes. The important thing is to make sure you don’t get irritated or punish for accidents. Let your child progress at his or her own rate and you’ll both be pleased with the results.

What About Baby Boomer Bail Outs?

Is there a rescue for boomers? What about those among us who are contemplating retiring, or lost our job or are retired? We need some aid also.

Do you notice how your grocery bill escalates each week or so? Your electrical and water bill are both going up a couple of cents here and there.

All of them add up and dig seriously in your pocket book. There are just so many places we will be able to cut down on. You can stretch a pan of soup for an additional meal, and plan to restrict trips in your auto. But health care should not be limited. With more and more boomers facing periods of unemployment due to this recession, you have to wonder if they can continue support of their health care benefits under COBRA rules. These are a joke for anyone who’s been presented the opportunity to pay hundreds more a month over what they were paying when employed. At a time where your income is non existent you are asked to pay many times more for health care coverage. Not surprisingly most unemployed people don’t take the COBRA coverage and try to wing it with no health care coverage at all.

Eventually this recession will clear but the damage done to many families who don’t have health care coverage will last long after.

Now is the Time to Teach Kids to Save

In a bleak economy one bright side to the dire news we hear is to show our children how easy it is to save and how not only all the small saving pile up over time, it provides us freedom from worries about how we do get by if Mom or Dad loses a job.

One easy tactic I like a lot is to get a big glass (or clear plastic) jar that it’s easy to unscrew the top of and place more change in the jar.  In fact, it would be very cool to make it a daily routine and with the clear glass, your children see their savings grow over time.

Another fun way to show how saving is fun is to use the contents of a ‘family fun jar’ to pay for something special.  It might be a movie or just enough cash to pay the icecream man when he shows up later this Spring.  That attaches pleasure to saving and sets a great habit for your children for the rest of their lives.
